Is there anyway to transfer a Mail message to iCal? Contextual menu app or something.

If you mean to add just an appointment then the freeware CalendarCreator service might help (once installed, it offers a Service to "Add a Calendar Event" to Services aware apps, of which Mail is one).

You highlight the text and it attempts to add an event based on the time and date info present (e.g. Meeting on Thurs at 10am) would appear in iCal as a 1 hour long entry at 10am on the next nearest Thurs. I find it is a little flaky - it doesn't always work, possibly because it doesn't recognise UK date formats or maybe because of line breaks, etc. However, give it a go - it may work well enough for you.
