I've deleted everything I could find from Norton Utilities, except for the text file in Startup Items that won't delete.

Just done the 10.2.8 update and Lo and Behold if bloody Norton didn't give me a warning after the restart.

Where the heck have they hidden this thing?

Thanks,

J.

God, I know the feeling. I had the same thing happen. What I did was search for "Norton", "NAV", and "Symantec" EVERYWHERE! You'll be surprised where it has stashed stuff. Just find these parts and get rid of them. By all means, get rid of those startup files too.

Do you still have the install log for SystemWorks? It'll list where everything is installed. If I remember correctly, it installs some kexts in the System folder. Search for "sym". You'll have to boot into OS 9 or root to delete those, I think.

I have the same problem. AnitVirus and Utilities are installed and all they cause is an incredible amount of kernel panics all the time.

I want this piece of junk to leave my computer ASAP but I lost the Installer Log (the worst thing I have ever done in my life). Anyone having an idea what to do to get rid of this worst program ever written?

Re-install it so that you get the log back, then delete it in full?

Or is it a .pkg installer? If so, go through the motions of installing until the stage where you select the destination disk - highlight the destination disk (but DON'T press continue) and then under the File menu, "Show Files"

You'll be presented with a File Listing (which you can then save) that shows you what files are installed and where. You can then use this listing to root out the ones you have missed. You can quit Installer.app once you have saved the file listing - there is no need to re-install in full.
