i was trying to install this, which i downloaded off of the .mac site, but it keeps installing w/ errors it says
is there a way to install it in my home directory instead of the root applications folder?

Are your permissions correct? Perhaps the installer won't work properly if permissions are fubar.
Stickybrain worked fine for me. I have root enabled too. IIRC your "home directory" applications folder is an alias or sym-link to the root folder.

well my home app folder didnt come w/ the account, i made it
