Greetings,
As a recent switcher from Windows to OS X, I have a few software issues. One problem area deals with slide shows and their creation. I have two windows programs called ProShow Gold and Pictures to EXE. Both of these programs make slideshows from jpg and other image files with transitions and other goodies. I have tried iMovie, but it doesn't seem to compare. Are there any OS X equivalents that make DVD or stand alone computer slideshows with transitions? Thanks in advance.

This may not be what you want--but I love the simplicity of slide show in iPhoto. I can even add music if I want. Have you used slideshow in iPhoto?

Yes, I've tried iPhoto, and I agree it's very easy to use. However, I really would like more control over the whole process. The windoze programs seem to give me more goodies, along with, amazingly enough, simplicity of use. Thanks for the suggestion though!

If you search Versiontracker and MacUpdate for "slide show" you might find what you're searching for (if so let us know).

Still Life is good.
Toast 6 has some slideshow abilities.
Otherwise as already stated, just check www.versiontracker.com. Many choices.

iView Media Pro 2 does slideshows and does it really well. In fact I use iView Media Pro 2 exclusively since I trashed iPhoto last year. The only thing is that the program is $160. *Ouch* It is a GREAT program though!

There are links and how-tos showing some amazing things that can be done with stills, iMovie and various plugins/effects.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm checking out version tracker and the apple discussion forum right now. I really appreciate MacNN forums; they have helped a great deal with the "switching" from one OS to the best OS
