If it's buggy and crappy then I won't go thru the hassle of filling out the forms and entering all my personal info.

If it's good then I will.

Thanks for telling us. I won't bother trying it then.

I wont try it either. iMovie works great, and I don't like files strewn about the system that I don't know what they do.

I like a proper-behaving app, 1 click, 1 icon. Drag to install.

it looks like it has the more complicated interface of advanced editors, but with the feature set of iMovie, which doesn't make for good software. I think that, for starting users, the interface will turn them off to it, and for more advanced users, the feature set will have the same effect. The only people i can see using it are people who want to see if they're 'ready to step up' to a more expensive program, but even then it's more for trial purposes than to actually use the program extensively. of course, this is all speculation as i haven't actually tried the program. in either case, i think i'll stick to final cut express.

What actually is installed:

In the system folder:

/System/Library/Frameworks/AvidOSUtils.framework
/System/Library/Extensions/RNBOClassicNotSeizeDriver.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/Avid_SCSI_RBC.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/Avid_SCSI.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/ATTORAID_OS10.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/ATTOExpressRAID_Enabler.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/ATTOExpressPCIPlus.kext

The .kext's are basicly SCSI drivers most provided by ATTO

In the Library folder:

/Library/QuickTime/AvidAVdvCodec.component
/Library/QuickTime/AvidAVUICodec.component
/Library/QuickTime/AvidAVDJCodec.component
/Library/QuickTime/._AvidAVdvCodec.component
/Library/QuickTime/._AvidAVUICodec.component
/Library/QuickTime/._AvidAVDJCodec.component
/Library/Frameworks/LavaFlow.framework
/Library/Application Support/Avid

The Codecs used by Avid Xpress DV

In the application folder:

/Applications/ExpressStripe
/Applications/Avid Free DV

ATTOS stripe software and the Avid application

There is an uninstaller included that removes everything.....

During the install I get a second authentication dialog from an app called "validate" that asks for my password again. The password is just shown on the screen, which seems pretty shoddy. Anyway, even if I do enter the info, nothing happens. Anyone else have troubles?

No problems here getting it installed on 10.2.8, but when I launch it, it bounces in the dock a few times and just quits.

Indeed. And I used a mailinator email address.

Still haven't bothered installing it yet. Downloaded as I'm mainly curious.

Yes, but if you remove the kernel extensions - the app won't run. At least it wouldn't for me no matter what I did.

Used it, but here's what:

1. iMovie is much simpler and easier to use. Thanks, I am with it for small movies

2. FCE is miles ahead although I dont own it

3. I own FCP 4 and that is the best piece of software I ever used, much much better than Avid Express DV 3.5 retail

Thanks for tip to uninstall the Avid free version.
