I know, we all love MS very much. That is why I still keep using Excel as my primary spreadsheet app. Anyhow.
If I open up a new spreadsheet and then try to change the background color of any cell I only get the built in colors as an option. From the little pull down menu I can see (as a tease) the "Pick fill color" option, but I have clue how to actually make that active. I have used Excel for quite a while now but this is something I have never been able to accomplish. Is that there only to look good, or is actually a function that can be used?
Well, you can modify the Standard Color set by going to Preferences --> Color and clicking on Modify. Then your new color should be available in the formatting palette.
Yeah, that is a solution, but not really the right way to do it. I am just talking about custom colors, the option is right in front of me, but it is grayed out. So...if I understand this correctly, noone has ever been able to use this?
