ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firebird/nightly/

You need to run through the October 7th folders to get to it.

So far? This thing is NICE! VERY nice. A lot of the previous quirks with the mac version are (at least the ones I had) are gone I believe. I can navigate back and forth via open apple left and right arrows. When opening a bookmark from the bookmark menu, it opens it in the current window or tab instead of opening a new window. The speed is still there. Still checking on how sites load but as long as it's stable, this is going to be my primary browser. The Preferences (like the last Mac builds) are a sheet.

Check it out.

The newest builds have a brand new downloads manager, one up on the Camino team.

It's very fast, and the new theme looks more Mac like than most browsers. Form buttons are ugly, but it's nice to see what CSS buttons were intended to look like

indeed they where out of ... production ... for a while.

I'm using today's build and I like it a lot, feels much more Mac OS X. It's very fast and the new download manager is a good adition.

It still lacks some important things, for instance importing Safari bookmarks. Also it should have the option to always show the Tab bar, as it is faster to rigt click it for a new tab instead of pressing cmd+t or going all the way up to the File menu.
Text rendering looks like crap, MacNN forums for instance look much, much better on the Safri/OmniWeb type of render.
Another thing, it doesn't support Mac OS X's built-in Spell Checker for text fields ... a very useful feture.

I'll stick to it for a few days to see if it's worthy of replacing Safari. But I doubt it will. However it has come a long way, nice improvements since the latest release.

BTW. thx derekn for the heads-up

I used This little utility to export my Safari bookmarks to Firebird. Worked like a charm and I really like what Firebird has become.

One little thing. I understand the need to have CSS styleable form controls, but why do the default controls have to be SO ugly? I'm not asking for aqua controls like Camino, just ones that aren't depressingly ugly.

If you looked closely you'd have noticed my participation in that forum thread

Joking aside, yes the Camino team are going like the clappers now, but they're still substantially behind. The new DM won't be included for many weeks as it's buggy as hell (apparently) and only has feature parity with the current version.
