Version 1.0.5 is taxing enough on the eyes. Using all the options on ver. 2.0 is nearly impossible for my 33-year-old eyes. Maybe I'm getting old!?

The new iPulse Jackets are cool in concept and great eye-candy. I question their usability though. Especially the "HAL" one. Still a neat little app though.

Luckily I still had ver. 1.0.5 on my PowerBook. I reverted and am using that on both machines.

Well, this is a bit useless, I can't really see myself using it on my work machine, a 600MHz iBook with a radeon.

With the defaults settings on, it consumes around 50% of the CPU for itself. There is really NO way I could work with this in the background.

Otherwise, minimum settings, it loses its "monitoring" values/uses.

They should IMHO warn users that it will consume a BIG chunk of CPU % on default settings.

I don't see my mom using this, and then complaining her system is slow.

Wow, IconFactory, you never cease to amaze me. That is, in a bad way.

Pretty but useless and CPU hogging.

True, IconFactory seem to be on the streak of putting out less-than-great stuffs.

Their icons used to amaze me but now it doesn't

They've made some bad moves such as making Pixadex Icon Package a closed format and giving a simple apps like Pixadex an insane price tag. With insane price tag, most people wouldn't want to buy that so Icon Designers will have to stick with the usual way of distributing icons (icons in a folder). That mean IconFactory will lose lot of potential customers.

Like having a sports car in the city -
it's really only for show...

The $12.95 price tag for
iPulse is not an insane price tag... iPulse
like their icons is pure icandy - but as the first
line of the products overview states:

"iPulse is the ultimate tool for Mac geeks, "

I have been using MenuMeters...

[edit] Adam Betts - yo! your right it's a
whole $6 more - $18.95 ;)

not really, could be paying an icon designer a heck of a lot more to make you custom icons

Why should they warn people about something that doesn't happen? iPulse does not tax the system like you claim. I'm not sure what you did, but your findings are not normal. I tried iPulse on a 350 G3 and the cpu usage was minimal with default settings.

iPulse uses a little over 1% of the cpu in all cases. 1% is nothing compared to every other app people run. There's no reason to piss on a product without having all the info.
