Looking for a good WYSIWYG HTML editor. No need for CSS, DHTML, php, Perl, etc.

Previously used VisualPage on OS 9 so I'm not looking for fancy, just clean code and fast.

Anyone have feedback on this software they'd like to share?

I've really been recommending Contribute to my web clients.

I do my development with Dreamweaver, so I don't have any experience with using Contribute with a non-Dreamweaver created site...but I believe it will work fine for that.

Definitely grab the demo and check it out.

I downloaded the Contribute after the promotion on .Mac.

It is, by quite a margin, the worst application I have ever used. It is, simply, god-awful. OK, I can forgive the three minute (no, I'm not exagerating) initial start up delay - but not the appaling slowness of the application, and the Javascript errors that I got when I attempted to drag'n'drop and image onto the page.

Why can't anyone write a decent HTML/XML editor for the Mac ?!

Thor - you have been recommending a product you've never tried to your clients?

I'm sure he has tried it extensively: he just said he's never used it with anything other than a Dreamweaver site.
Mind you, I'm not impressed with Contribute 2. For some reason I can't even install it.

Exactly.
However since my post, I set it up to edit a personal web site of mine (non-Dreamweaver). Worked slick.

Wow. This has certainly not been my experience.

Launching Contribute: 1 min.-- not the quickest-- but not a problem for me. This includes automatically connecting to my remote sites. (500MHz SP G4, 512 MB RAM)
It's much quicker on my 1.25 DP 1.5 GB RAM machine.
Drag and drop images works fine for me-- no errors.

Obviously, ymmv

Have used dreamweaver this weekend since made available via .mac.

I am not a web site developer, so my experience with these apps is limited. However using the templates supplied via .mac and contribute, I was able to set up a web site for my office.

(work in progress)

Start up time, including the register pop up window is 30 secs on my flat panel imac 800. 768 MB ram. (I recently ran diskwarrior directory optimize and my entire system seems faster). Repair permissions as contribute installs flash player with incorrect permissions.

Your light blue text (links) are just a shade or two too light. I know the whole page is a pastel theme but barely legible text is usually a dealbreaker.

Nice page otherwise, quite attractive, calming.
Good feel for a DDS.

Sorry, meant to say I used contribute, not dreamweaver.
Thanks for checking out my website. I'm not sure using contribute, I can change the link test colour. I'll check it out.
