Hello,
I've just got this program to use, and so far, I only run 4 programs within this program, but than how come this thing always uses around 40% to 50% of my cpu??? Than sometimes it will be using like 80% of the cpu the whole time, then I'll have to close it, than reopen it for it to go back down to around 13% cpu useage. Is this program running at 40% to 50% cpu usage normal? or a programing error from the person who made this? How can a program take about 50% of my cpu the whole time?

I use Konfabulator with 6 widgets and no way they use more than 5% cpu when triggered, when idle just 0%.
I use:
Calendar
Picture Frame
Battery
The Weather
iTunes History
Attenuate (home made not public)

Sorry to tell you... but mine runs in the 30% tile still, sometimes 40% still, looking at it right now in the Process listing. Now I close the app, than restart it, and now it's running at 5% with the same stuff open in it. But it'll go back up to 30% to 50% again in a hour or so.

The question is, which widgets are you running?

The real question is why would you use this app in the first place? Seriously.

I'm using version 1.5.1 with Calendar, CompactAirport, iChat Bezel, The Weather, and Uptime Bar. Right now it's using 60% of my CPU. Restarted the program again to have it back down to around 10% again. But of course, 3 hours or so later, it'll be back up there again.

Try to track down which widget is causing the problem, and contact the author.
Check out iChat Bezel, as it uses AppleScript and that can eat CPU. Also look at that third party ones, CompactAirport and UptimeBar.
I always check out very closely third party widgets, because too often they are coded badly and eat CPU like crazy, leading to the bad reputation of Konfabulator.

How do you check how much CPU is each taking? I tried closing iChat Bezel, but I can't figure out how since I can't right click on anything for that program.
thanks,
Ming

Open a terminal window, make it bigger (specially taller) type "top" and hit return. A list of all your active applications will appear, all named "Konfabulator" are either widgets or the application itself. Quit one widget at a time and look at the window to see if you closed the CPU eater. How? look at the next answer.

Select the widget from the Konfabulator menu with the control key down, doing this will close the widget. If you select a widget with the command key down, it will be restarted.

I use Konfabulator to control my streaming music server. It manages requests by forcing songs into the playlist that have been selected from a web-based database. When no songs are in the queue, the widget has the server go back to random play.
It also lets me show current track, time, connected listeners and queue controls in a wide strip I tuck under the menu bar. It was incredibly easy to make and provides a great service to me.
Seriously.
