Not sure I see the point, but regardless:
Emagic is not going to like the "Logic" name.
I know my first thought when I saw this earlier today was "whafsck? - Emagic doing iTunes plug-ins?"

At first all I thought it was doing was increasing the volume, so I started doing some rather superficial comparisons with diffferent songs. tried songs with the volume turned up without it, and then with the volume turned down with the it, just to see if I could notice a difference in sound while trying to account for the volume changes. Without the base boost, the difference seems minimal to me, but the bass boost definitely does a decent job at making the lower frequencies more pronounced. This does come at the expense of more CPU usage, but as long as you're not doing anything too processor intensive it shouldn't be too bad.

For those still having volume fluctuation problems in iTunes 4.01, this fixes it. Not bad acctually. The bass boost seems to work well with my iSub.

I use it and I highly recommend it. I had an 'fuzzy' download of John Lennons "Across the Universe" If I remember that track was always a little off when it was released. I can tell you the Volume Logic plugin cleans it up and it is like listening to a whole different track. I am very impressed. Now if I could only save the "remastered" version!

it definitely outperforms the software preamp of iTunes' "sound check" feature. VL has none of the ugly distortion of the other. similarly, it produces cleaner sound than the built-in eq on the bands it tweaks.
unlike the "sound check" feature, VL does actually decrease the dynamic range of tracks with large dynamic range. annoying in some cases (decreases impact of some music), nice in others (needing to adjust volume many times in a single track is quite bothersome).
cpu usage is quite reasonable, less than i feared it would be. reference: G4 800, iTunes 4.0, 192kbps CBR mp3, all iTunes effects off, smallest window. without VL, iTunes uses about 6%. with VL, about 13%.
i'm pleased with it so far.
of course personal results will vary with the quality of the production of the recordings being listened to and the speakers used.
