Somehow (she claims it "just happened"... yeah - right!), when my wife was using Mail, the view switched from the top half showing the selected mailbox (In, Sent, etc...) and the bottom showing the selected message, to just having one big window showing the mailbox. The only way to view messages now is to double click a message and open it in a new window.
I'm sure there is some easy solution, but I haven't found it in the preferences, view, message, etc. meus.
Help! How do I get the preview pane back in Mail?

Did you try draggin the preview window back up/open? At the bottom edge of the Mail window there should be, in the center, four small horizontal lines. Place your cursor over those lines, the cursor should change to a line w/ up+down arrows, and then just click, hold, and drag the bottom edge up, exposing the preview window.
(Sorry if you already tried this, but you didn't mention it...)

See - I told you it would be easy! Thanks... I had no idea that was even there! Now if I could just have the time back that I spent looking through every single menu and searching the useless "Mail Help"...
Just for future reference, a double click on those little horizontal bars will instantly close the pane. My wife must have accidentally clicked there instead of on a message, and poof!
In any case, thanks for your help. It keeps me humble to feel like a total noob every now and then!
