I love the way that Address Book interfaces with my mobile phone. I get the caller details on screen, have options to reply, and most importantly, can read and send SMS messages from my desktop.

I use a T68i. My problem is this: when I leave the room with my mobile and come back in, my desk top 'loses' the connection, and will not recognise the phone again until I click on the bluetooth icon in Address Book. Is it not meant to automatically re-connect?

Address Book isn't set up to poll to reconnect to your phone when you come back into range. You have to push the button again.

That said, I have found a workaround using Salling Clicker and an applescript that tells Address Book to reconnect. I set it to run when I come back into range. This works pretty well.

Can you use Salling clicker with other phones other than the T68i? I have the Seimans S56. I'm so glad to rid myself of that POS T68

Apparently not, and Romeo won't do it, either.

I have an S55, and I've been looking for a while.

If you find anything, let me know!

That's (probably) the phone I'm getting, so I was rather disappointed Sailing Clicker doesn't support it. Perhaps Apple should buy that product and integrate it.... (I say buy rather than do a Watson/Sherlock)

another proud owner of the s56 here - I have not found anything as cool as the sailing clicker for the s56 though.

unfortunately I also see a big difference in battery life if I leave bluetooth on all the time, so I shut it off on my phone unless I am syncing...

The problem is that the SE phones support a menuing function that is controled via AT commands, and no other phone does. Someone has written a 3rd party app that makes Nokia 60 series phones work with Romeo.

I thought that Clicker would work with other phones for the proximity featue (which is what is being discussed here) but not for the menuing/remote control. I haven't tried it though.
