Ok, so we have a brief we're writing with very specific page limitations. We're required to write the damn thing in Courier or Courier New.

Courier New, for whatever reason, makes the paper longer than regular Courier.

We want it to be shorter, so I wrote it in Courier. The problem is, as soon as I send it to a Windows user, whether as a Word file, or a .pdf file, it opens it up with Courier New (sometimes even lying and saying its using regular courier).

Is there any way to make it a .pdf and force it to display using regular Courier, even on windows machines that have only Courier New?

Do you have Adobe Acrobat (not the reader)?
There you just specify that you want the fonts embedded.

You might look into ghostscript, the unixy side of things -- it may be able to embed fonts.

I do have Acrobat (version 5, not 6).

I looked in the save-as options and preferences and couldn't see where I could tell it to embed the font...
