I am a life-long Mac user but work in a Windows environment. Today I was going to impress my colleagues with iTunes for Windows. They have been rather impressed by my iPod already so there was lots of excitement.
I install iTunes. Restart at prompted.
...
Since then my Dell has not started again.
...
It will not reboot.

What is worse is that this is my work computer. I feel so stupid doing this on a work machine but I could never think an Apple app would cause something like this.

Please help. Please help fast.
Apple's phone support has closed for the evening and I NEED to fix this now!

Try booting into 'safe mode'.

To do this, keep htting the F8 key on your keyboard when starting up.

If you installed, restarted and it never fully booted since you should be able to use the "last known good configuration" option to get running again.

You many want to post your problem to this thread on the apple support page;

plus this whole section in general --

It looking like it may be a conflict with adaptec software like EZ CD Creator or something like that.

I had to reinstall Windows 2000, then do the Windows patches again to get back to normal working environment. I still can't access my CD-RW from within Windows.

yup i had the same problem, and finally booted the machine (a Dell with w2k) with "the last known good configuration" or something like that.

iTunes played fine, just that everytime it starts it complains about not been able to find drivers for CD/DVD burners (hence I don't think I can burn any CDs, yet).
