Is there a Download Manager for the Bittorrent Network ?
I mean, having a window open for each file is a pain, plus it's a lot more CPU intensive.

Is there a way to merge say ... Download Wizzard and Bittorrent together ?

Nope, only the client exists no dl managers yet.

The current client is open-source so its perfectly possible. I even considered developing a bittorrent manager based on the existing code a while ago, even came up with some mockups. Anyone want to volunteer?

The reason the existing bittorrent program is CPU intensive is not solely because it has a few extra windows open - its because its a CPU intensive application, there is alot of network stuff going on the background.

You can make it quite a bit less CPU intensive by opening the download window's NIB file and deleting the progress bar. Cuts CPU usage into about a third on my G3.

indeed. I always hide the application. I reckon it's not the same, but it will save you some CPU cycles.

Nothing eats CPU cycles like resuming a 7 GB download that's half done...
Doesn't BT do some kind of error checking as it downloads also? That would take CPU time also.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The latest version of Bit Torrent (3.3) does not work on OS X 10.3 (7B85).

Try this app for torrent files. You can DL multiple files and DOES run on Panther. Also supporting eDonkey, GNUtella and OpenNAP.

Right you are. Shame since older versions of BT suck a lot. I'll wait for an update.

mlMac can do BitTorrent.

I just use the regular BitTorrent client myself, it's more than sufficient. But if it doesn't work on Panther...

You posted this on the other BT thread and I admit I haven't d/l it yet.

It's a Java App with EVERY CONCEIVABLE stat in one of its many displays. My brain hurt after just looking at the site page.

So... has anyone else tries this?

I downloaded it and took a look. It actually looks pretty nice. Unfortunately, I'm at work and cannot do any torrents until I get home.

If you want a custom icon for BitTorrent app and document icon:

http://homepage.mac.com/adambetts/fi...rrentIcons.zip

Nothing big but it's an improved version of original icons.
