Hello. I had a quick question about Norton Anti-Virus 9.0. I purchased it about 2 weeks ago and installed it on my powerbook, but then I decided to sell that powerbook and got the new 15 Al powerbook. Can I install it on the new 15 Al or do I have to buy another retail version of Norton, which I don't mine doing. I did reinstall the OS on the old powerbook which deleted all my data and programs including Norton, which I did not register because I was in the process of thinking whether or not to get a 15 Al or not. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

If you removed the program from the computer you sold, and you kept the CD, then you can legally install it on the new computer.

Of course, you don't really need it, since there are no Mac OS X viruses at the moment. And if one does pop up, you'd have to download new definitions to be protected anyway. In which case, I'm willing to bet that someone just writes a small, free blocker for that particular virus.

Depends on the environment you work in - I'm one of only three Mac users on our company network (slowly leading a rebellion...) and Norton is forever picking up virus' that are being spread by my Windows using colleagues.

I figure I'm performing a gateway service and cleaning al lthe files that pass through my system - even though there aren't many Mac viruses floating around, Norton still cleans the Windows viruses you are bound to encounter - the Word Macro family of virus being the most common.
