Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can offer some insight into this problem I am facing. We switched to a campus email notices application that sends email digests. In the message, there's an index with internal href links to the specific announcement further down in the body of the message.

Every single email client (save one) I have looked at fails to recognize these internal links.

Eudora 5 and 6 render the message text fine (plain text) but the links somehow merge with the mailto links next to them.

Netscape 7, Mozilla 1.4 and Thunderbird see the links, render them as links but clicking on them does absolutely nothing.

Entourage doesn't render the links. It instead displays the less-than bracket, the target url and the greater-than bracket. The mailto links work, though.

Mail.app works perfectly. The internal links work, the mailto links work and everything's peachy. Problem is, my users are all on Eudora save for one.

Any idea why these other clients would fail to render a simple html internal href? The messages are of mime type text/html, the code is clean and on Mozilla for Linux and Eudora & Mozilla for Windows the links work. It's my Macs that are being problematic.

Any help appreciated.

Pat

Check the preferences for the apps that don't work. There should be options to view messages as HTML, text, rich text, etc. Perhaps they're just not set to read the HTML.

I should have mentioned this in the first post. All the clients are able to view html. In fact, I don't think any of them even have an option to not view html. You can set a preference to compose in plain text or styled / html text, but for viewing messages, there's no setting to view in just text vs styled / html.

You can set a preference to allow network access when viewing html. Flipping that has made no difference.

Thanks,

Pat
