Does anyone know if iCal is a program that benefits from having a G4 processor? Right now, on my ibook (700 MHz G3) it is intolerably slow. I'd like to use it, but can't handle how slow it is. With the new ibooks coming out, I was wondering if having the G4 processor would make iCal any faster. The new processor is only 100 MHz faster than my current ibook, so I'm guessing the extra MHz alone wouldn't make much of a difference.

I doubt you would see an improvement worthy of an upgrade. There would be some improvement but I can't imagine it would warrant a new machine nor do I think iCal is the sort of app that would be making use of AltiVec if that's what you were referring to. Do you have the latest version of iCal installed?

It's actually quite fast over here - but I have 1 GB RAM and a 1.47 GHz G4 processor. But when I had my 733 MHz G4 it was kind of slow The 1.5.1 update has improved performance though.
