How much RAM do you need for it to work well?

512?

And on the box it says it needs 20GB of available harddrive space. Why is that?

the program can't be that big?

512 MB would be the minimum amount you would want... always get as much as you can and because RAM is so cheap these days, stock up.

20 GB is because of all of the sound and video additions/transitions. Some of these are optional, but it's nice to have them all installed and lots of additional space on top of this.

DVDSP2 is a beast. The more Ram and Processor you can throw at it the better life will be.
