Okay, really excited about Panther, which I got this morning... posting like a happy loony around here...

BUT... this afternoon, I got another package. Final Cut Express...

It won't install in my system as the classic installer that's on the install disc states, "The software to be installed requires Mac OS 10.0 or newer, which is not on this computer."

....eeeesh, I hate classic...

Anyone know of a fix for this? Apple released any updates? I'm not seeing anything on the site.

well, as you can see, it's the only installer on the disk... and the installer is a classic app, but it's for installing the os x version.... weird, for sure.

(btw: i have fcp 3 at home and i've never run into this type of installer... strange)

I'm not sure what your problem is (something wrong with your system install?) but mine looks like this:

<edit: I can't get my iDisc to work properly under Panther for some reason... But anyway, my FCE disc shows up as having a normal installer with a FCE logo on the icon.>

okay! i got it to work... oddly enough, i ejected the disk, stuck it in my imac, and the proper icon showed up.... the fce icon, like what you describe, Icruise....

So, I stuck it back in the G5, but the same classic "Vise" installer icon appeared, so I copy/pasted it to the desktop. THAT WORKED!! WOOHOOO!!!

So, I'm okay now, just a little miffed as to why it wouldn't be recognised in the first place... trippy...

Icruise and solitere; thanks for the input!!

I had the same problem with FCE. Did the copy and paste to the desktop and it worked.

Thanks
