Is there any way to do it without the password? I simply don't have it and don't know how I can get it. Is it at all possible to extract from passsword protected .rar file without having the password? i.e. hack it.

well nothing very illegal really

I *ahem* acquired a mpg movie from the net that was packer with a .rar and p/w protected for some reason. Now I can't get into the forum that had the link (it is down perhaps for good) and I don't remember if there was any info on the p/w.

So I got this .rar packed mpg that is just sitting there taking up space unless someone knows of a way to circumvent the p/w thingy.

you should try Gumby, that might work for password protected RAR files.

Thanks King Bob on the Cob! It is a pretty interesting little app. It allows me to open the locked rar with any password I enter, but since the password is wrong the final file is corrupted. It seems that the encryption is tied to the password so woithout it I'll never be able to extract it. :/

Thanks for the assistance guys!
