I want to get an ibook or iMac and without a SD, I can't use iDVD.

And DSP 2 is out of my price league right now.

If I get an external burner what software can I get to burn DVD that way you can do it in iDVD?

I've found nothing besides the apple programs.

Do any others exsist?

Thank you.

Toast 6 makes DVDs, but there's just one menu which you can't edit. I think ffmpegX might do it too. And I thought there was a development with iDVD where you could edit on a no-drive mac and then burn the project on another mac. Maybe there's a way to convert an iDVD project into a disc image. maybe Sizzle.

That's a somewhat better answer than mine!

What about a used 867 12" with SuperDrive? Just because having the Superdrive is pretty handy, unless you already have the external DVD-R.

Panther is quite quick, makes buying a slower computer an OK proposition, at least in the near term.

Anyone else know any. I wish I knew, but I would like to know too.

If you get a LaCie external burner, it comes with CaptyDVD, and Formac burners come with Devideon. They're not as intuitive as iDVD, however (and not as slick)...

Do all the Lacie come with Capty DVD?

I look on the box in the apple store and they dont' say what software comes inside.

I look online, but I can't seem to find anything about it.

Any model numbers would be nice.
