Hi there,

I'm a recent switcher and will be looking at migrating my mail (pst file) in Outlook XP to either:
1. Entourage
2. OS X Mail

Has anyone done this or know of a way? My pst file does contain quite a large number of folders.

Thanks.

AFAIK, PST migration isn't possible. And I don't recall if Outlook 2001 (classic app) supports it either.

If you have a palm pilot, do it that way. Maybe you could even do it through Palm desktop itself.

You might lose some things but you will get the important stuff.

Hi again ...

For anyone who are or may had been in the same boat as me, this link provides the steps:

http://www.jarango.com/en/individual..._mac_os_x.html

And it worked for me (but obviously one still needs access to their old Windows machine).

Cheers.

A buddy of mine just used + highly recommends Outlook2Mac - available at http://www.littlemachines.com/

I'm not sure if it works off the PST file itself, or how it goes about it - but he said it moved everything over (including Deleted items, etc. in mail, as well as contacts and calendars for Address Book and iCal). I **think** it runs on the PC itself, so if you just have the PST file and no more Win Box this may not work for you...

Best of luck.

Has anyone done this or know of a way? My pst file does contain quite a large number of folders.
I was in this situation a few years back - switched to OSX and had a massive Outlook PST (containing tens of thousands of e-mails in a good 20+ folders) that I needed to import into Entourage.

If I recall correctly, I used the Windows version of Eudora (I think?) because it (or whatever I used) can import Outlook PST files and has support for exporting its own mail in the standard MBOX format (which Entourage supports). This made it (or whatever the product was) a perfect "middle-man".

I also specifically remember Entourage refusing to allow me to import the MBOX files, it would list them but not let me select them, until I opened them in Word and resaved them. I don't remember why but remember I couldn't select them until I did that.

Thus my procedure was something like this:

1. Installed Eudora (or whatever product it was) on my Windows PC
2. Imported my Outlook PST file
3. Exported to MBOX format
4. Transferred the MBOX files to my Mac
5. Opened each of the MBOX files within Word:Mac and resaved them
6. I think I had to pre-create all the folders within Entourage as the MBOX files just contained the e-mails?
7. Imported each of the MBOX files into Entourage

I think that's what I did - I had tried all sorts of utilities and procedures and few even worked at all, and some gave me screwed up time stamps, no attachments, etc. My method above gave me a perfect import - but it was time consuming.

Hope this helps?

I am in complete and under shock that it is this complicated to move mail from one platform to the other. I'm in the same boat and had been playing with this for a few hours when I ran across your message. I'm about to give your advice a try... wish me luck.

The complication is purely Microsoft Outlook's fault.

Hmmmmmm - I definitely didn't buy anything, just downloaded a mail client from the Internet and away I went.

Was it the mail client that comes with the Netscape Communicator package then? Download that and give it a shot...
