As soon as installer asks for a user name and password with admin privledges and the information is enterd, the installer disappears. This happens with both apps. And interestingly enough, both report the same error in the Console: "invalid path"

Any ideas?

That's very odd. I installed WiMP just last night and it works fine. Have you tried installing it under a different user account?
