Last night when I was trying to print a pretty simple document in Macromedia FreeHand MX (11.0.1) under OS X 10.3... and I got the following error dialog:
Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory
This surprised me because
a) I've printed this document numerous times in the past under Jaguar, and
2) I have 1Gb of system memory, half of which was not being utilized at the time!
Using my many years of bug-hunting experience, I reduced the problem to a *very* simple case... and I'd be very interested to find out if anyone else can reproduce this.
The steps are the following:
1) Create a letter size landscape oriented (horizontal) document.
2) Create a textbox with just a few words using any *PostScript* font.
3) In the File

age Setup dialog box, select the portrait (vertical) print option (the first box at the bottom, on your left), 100%. Click OK.
4) Try to print
If I try to print a landscape document in portrait mode (or vice-versa) AND there is a PostScript Font text box in the page, it grinds away for a few seconds and tells me I don't have enough memory - which is a lie.
If I change the document orientation to match the Page Setup orientation, or only use TrueType fonts it prints immediately.
Apparently, printer does not matter. This happens if my destination printer is my Canon i850 (non-PS) or if I select "Save as PDF".
