is there any good software ot there that can do this for me or is there anything preset on the computer that can do it?

Why would you want to?

I believe Quicktime Pro can do it. I know Cleaner can do it. I don't know if other programs can.

among others, in rough order of decreasing quality, ease of use, encoding speed and general mac-ness

also QuickTime Pro, as mentioned ($30 for Pro plus $20 for the MPEG2 decoder component. all others listed are free)

the question was about MPEG2 which is video.

PS. OpenShiiva and ffmpeg both do audio
