Ok So I have updated to Panther, But the Mail app SUCKS.
1. NO messages appear in the preview pane, I have to open every message for it to display. If I click in the Preview area I can type in it, even if I have a message selected in the Mail box.
2. Threaded messages does NOT work, and what is worse if it is selected ALL the messages in the current mailbox DISAPPEAR. What makes this behaviour worse is that the Organise by threads option keep turning it's self ON.
3. It doesn't manage to keep track of what mail has been read. Some of my mailboxes entire contents has been marked unread?

There better be an update soon, there was nothing wrong with Jaguars Mail, why have they borked it up, I thought apps where supposed to get BETTER as they matured?
Has anyone got any work arounds?

How did you install Panther? Clean install? Archive & Install?

I've had a couple minor problems with Mail so far (see my "Panther Mail is CPU hog???" thread), but nothing like you've experienced. Let me be the first to say that sucks.
