Is there anywhere that I can still get the updates for Virtual PC 5.0? I think there were a couple of 5.x updates that improved the speed.

Since MS took over VPC, all they have on their site is the 6.1 update. I called MS support, but after about 20 minutes of waiting I gave up. It seems that after installing Panther VPC 5.0 (without the updates) is reeeeally slow.

VPC 5 in general is very slow. VPC 6 makes things faster though I understand that VPC 6.1 is not compatible with Panther.

VPC doesn't work with a G5, thats all.

I have VPC5 updaters archived and can post if you can't find them. Did you check MacUpdate, they sometimes have older downloads still available.

There is definitely a problem with VPC 5 under Panther. It doesn't work. It causes the processor to hit 100%.
I am running 5.0.4 which was the last update for VPC 5.

Unfortunately, the answer will be buy the upgrade to 6.1 because Microsoft won't fix a previously released version.

Maybe Apple will come out with an OS update that fixes this?

bmhome1 : thanks for the offer to post the updates, but based on what garyj said I think I'll just keep things as they are. I only have one program that I run on VPC anyway, and I may install Jag on my 2nd HD and run it from there.

Thanks to all who replied...

If someone has the 5.0.4 update and can get it to me somehow that would be great. I have been stuck at 5.0.2 since i erased my hard drive and did reinstalls. And there is no way i am buying 6 for the limted uses I have for it.
Please private message me.

Thanks
