Since I just got my PB recently, I didn't bother installing some apps since I was planning to do a clean install with Panther. Now that I received Panther yesterday, I installed some stuff like Real Player and WMP to play streaming media. I remember when Safari first came out and it would always download the reference files for streaming media (*.rm, *.asx, *.smil, etc) and the files played fine, but it ends up leaving reference files all over the desktop. I just assumed it was a bug and would be fixed.

But now when I try to play any streaming media other than quicktime, the same thing happens. The reference file is always downloaded to the desktop. Is there any way to fix this problem? Couldn't find it mentioned in previous posts. I remember IE played the files fine and did not try to download the reference file, but I'm trying to be IE free with my new install, plus it'd be annoying to have to use IE just for a simple thing like this.
