I don't like how when I use Expose to show desktop and then play with the files on the desktop (like unzipping) Safari and other windows are brought back up - plus I hate the shadows on the borders and stuff when using Expose for that. In Jag I used a program similar to Show Desktop but it had only an icon in the menu bar that you would click - it didn't place an icon in the dock like Show Desktop does. I think I deleted it in anticipation of Expose but now I want it back. It was a freeware.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

my first stop would be versiontracker or macupdate, and see what they turn up.

apart from that, I haven't seen anything.

Show Desktop allows you to place the icon in the Dock or the menu bar, AFAIK.

lookmark, I have this app but "place the icon in the Dock or the menu bar, AFAIK."

Thing is I can't figure out how to diable it showing up in the dock. I want it just in the menubar, not the dock

Yes, the app to show desktop is called Show Desktop, logically enough.

It was just updated for Panther: http://www.everydaysoftware.net/showdesktop/

At first it shows up in the dock, but hold down the dock icon and go to preferences, and you can put it in the menu bar instead.

I did do that - it's in the menubar now, but it's still in the dock and I don't want it to

it works now - it's now just in the menubar

Click on it - desktop shows, click on it again - back to the windows - better than Expose, works just like in 10,2 and slightly better (can click on it again to go back to the windows)

One "problem": It seems to also hide minimized windows in the dock. Clicking a secon time does not bring the miniized windows back to the dock. Otherwise, a good app.
