on the order items in the menubar open? Like I have Synergy, MenuMeters, Show Desktop, Meteorologist and LaunchBar - and the order is the same when I first launched those apps - I want them to remember the position I specified in Sys Prefs - never worked for me in 10.2 either

Only "Menu Extras" can be moved by command dragging them up and down. These are generally only the Apple added items in the menu bar, or other applications that use hacks to turn themselves into Menu Extras.

The other type of items are "Status Items" which are written differently, and are supported by apple officially. Unfortunately, for some bizarre reason, Apple decided that these items shouldn't be able to be moved like you can with Menu Extras.
