Hi, I hoped that this bug was fixed in Panther, but it isn't:

This happens Only in Mail.app when I am on a specif network - (Specifically FreeServe AnyTime via ISDN in the UK - with NAT and DHCP).

My brother uses Entourage and has no such problem. When I use Mail on other networks - I have no problems either - Also the .mac SMTP server always works - even when the others don't.

I have submitted a bug report to Radar - but have little hope it not being marked "Cannot reproduce"

Does anyone else suffer from this problem? If we can narrow down what causes it - there is a better chance of Apple Fixing it.

Hmm - I've just discovered something rather interesting in Panther Mail's AppleScript Terminology:

Code:
tell application "Mail" set log all socket activity to true end tell
I'll have to use this next time I'm on the offending Network.

I'm glad (in a way) that I'm not the only person suffering from this.

Ever since upgrading to Panther I have had two specific problems with .mail.

1. Only occasionally am i able to send e mail to a hotmail address. Mostly they come back "undelivered" although one or two have got through.

2. Mail refuses to check both my e mail accounts at startup. It will check NTL but not btinternet. Cannot get it to do this no matter what I try.

General info: I use NTL Broadband to connect to the Internet and I upgraded to Panther from Jaguar. I am considering doing a clean install, because these two problems are so annoying.
