MS has officially removed support for Unix and Linux on Virtual PC, but I suspect it will still work fine.

No suprise on this one... why would they allow you to put a better OS on top of their product.

Not as big of a loss as before we had OSX. I get all my *nix fun from the command line.

I knew this would happen. They have no interests in selling third party OS'es.

Now if MS was somewhat inovative they should've designed special drivers for VPC so they can get a kick ass speed boost on it. Aka similar as in softwindows98 or whatever the name was.

I agree. They should realize that people running VPC on the Mac probably aren't going to switch to Windows anyway, but they can still sell Windows licenses for use with VPC and make some money off Mac users. Right now, even on the fastest Mac, VPC is too slow for me to trash my PC.

Why would someone WANT to run Linux on VPC? There's already some great distros for PPC.

Some Linux software doesn't work on PPC?

Well it's not as necessary now we have X11 and the command line - but it is nice to be able to install a linux distro and know that it wont have any effect on the rest of the machine.
