The installer for Apple Remote Desktop doesn't have an uninstall option. Anybody have an idea about what files to remove when trying to manually uninstall the application?
I need to remove it, after realizing how it had a tendency to crash our Xserve. In addition, I was really disappointed with the latency and the way the screen redraws are done. Much to my surprise, the performance was much poorer than Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection client, which I use daily. RDC even over a slow ~1.5 MBit/s link is imperceptibly different from having the computer directly attached to my keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
I hope that the next version of ARD is going to take some cues from Microsoft's RDC and will add greater stability, as well.

You can go to the sharing system setting, and turn ARD off. That way it won't load at least. It's an option, in the list with file sharing, etc.
Then you can command drag the icon out of the toolbar, if it's there.

I guess, I'll call AppleCare on this question and will then report what they tell me.

Thank you very much for the pointer!
If the search engine at Apple's support pages were better I would have found this myself. I put "Apple Remote Desktop uninstall" into the search field, but the above document did not come up.

Why doesn't Apple make more un-installers like this?

The last thing we need is more uninstallers!

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.
