I rely upon Filemaker for organizing large databases of biological data. The performance of Filemaker 5.5 and 6 in Mac OS X leaves a lot to be desired. Why can't they implement toolbar support in OS X? Why is Filemaker such a dog at importing data in X?

Hopefully some of these problems will be addressed in the next release of Filemaker, which will no longer support Mac OS 9, according to Filemaker's website.

While searching for Filemaker books on Barnes and Noble.com last weekend, there were several titles with "Filemaker X" in the title which are due for release in December, 2003. I assume the "X" stands for either 6.5 or 7, whatever version number the new version will be. Builds must have been seeded to these authors, and now the books can be pre-ordered.

Any corroborating evidence?

Think Secret had some rumors on a new version with lots of new features. FM devcon was held recently but no information on a new version. Basically I have no usefull information.

There were a few books on amazon.co.uk with release date in October. They still have the same release date but remain unavailable.

I think there is something coming but I wish I knew when.
