My daughter wanted a different icon for her Applications folder and she just "copy/pasted" a different icon.
She wants to go back and I cannot figure out how to do it (to get back to the System icon)

I tried making a new untitled folder and then copied the items into that folder, deleted the empty Applications folder and renamed the untitled to Applications.
The icon says generic.

Have things been really messed up?

She has a FP iMac with Panther installed.

Thanks for the help

I think that you can open Get Info (cmd-i) on the folder, select the icon (will highlight), and then just hit delete and it will revert to the system icon.

Unfortunately, I'm not at home on my Mac, or I'd give it a try for you.

good luck

You can also Get Info, click to highlight the icon, and select Edit:Cut.

Thank you both very much for your solutions.

That did the trick.

Not at all. It's kind of difficult to mess anything up, and here we are just talking about an icon. Hell, if you are worried about it, just create a user for her and let her go to work on the thing. That way, she won't mess up your settings. If she's not set as an admin she won't be able to touch any of the system files.
