I have searched the forum for a similar problem and couldn't find anything, so hopefully someone can help me.

I bought a new dvd a few weeks ago, tested it on my tibook to make sure it played (I've found that some rental dvd's don't work). This one worked fine, but i didn't have the time to watch it until a few nights ago and when i put it in, the computer just spit it out.

I own one other dvd and it worked fine. I checked and double checked for scratches, and couldn't spot any. I opened disc utility and that didn't recognize it, and i zapped my pram and that didn't help.

The only difference i can think of is i recently installed panther (archive install).

Are there any other suggestions short of reinstalling panther with a clean install and/or waiting for an upgrade?

Okay, so I've borrowed other dvd's and they seem to work fine. I have no idea what's wrong with my copy of Fight Club. I know iDVD won't play certain dvd's that are rented, but why not the store-bought ones?

Am I missing something here?

Any insight will be much appreciated... this is rather frustrating.
