Anyone see what's wrong with this picture? I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It's a LIE. I have a 17 inch powerbook, which theoretically has the same screen as this 17 inch iMac. I use my iSight to videoconference regularly and I never do full screen because the video gets stretched horizontally rather than doing something smart like zooming or letter-boxing to fit the full screen. Just who do these assholes think they are?

The marketing department?
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

I'll tell you another lie but you have to promise not to overreact...

...That image isn't actually on the iMac's screen....It's photoshopped in later!

Seriously, you really think an ad dept would use photoshop instead of an untouched-up photo. Who can we trust any more?

You people are mocking the first poster which is super hilarious and all, but he's right... I don't have an iSight but if and when I get one I was expecting it to fill the screen right.... i mean most Apples are widescreen now... who'd expect that 'Full Screen' would mean 'stretched out of shape as if quality and appearance didn't matter at all'. Has Bill Gates transplanted his own cloned brain into Steve Jobs' skull or something?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Anyone remembers a movie in which the main character held a gun in a fast-food restaurant and demanded to have a burger of the same size shown in the picture?

Yup that's the one - it's a rather satisfying experience seeing Michael Douglas raving in the restaurant...

One of my favourite films! But it's actually another story. In fastfood restaurants you expect not to get what is advertised. This is not the case regarding Apple's ads, is it?
Scarcely pausing for breath, Vroomfondel shouted, "We DON'T demand solid facts! What we demand is the total ABSENCE of solid facts. I demand that I may or may not be Vroomfondel!"

Umm, I think it's wrong that a daughter has to iSight with her father to ask for more money...

No, that image is real, and the guy in the videoconference actually has a really narrow face.

No thanks. I'd rather call it what it is, at least, before bending over.

It's a fraud. The difference between undistorted and stretchy-face full-screen is non-trivial.

Unless Rickster is right! Then, it's not a fraud, it's a feature!

I just got my iSight and haven't tried this yet, but according to the Apple site it should work to do a full screen video conference with a widescreen display:
And if you use a wide aspect ratio screen, iChat AV uses patented anamorphic resizing techniques so that the video of the person you’re chatting with fills the entire screen without distortion.

Bending over? Fraud? Wow, just because you can't go full screen with iChat? Someone takes things way too seriously. Look through a Best Buy or Circuit City catalog, there's much more 'fraud' for you to get your backside loosened up with.

Let's look into what must really be causing all this rage.

1. You're upset because the ichat makes you look fat.

2. You're upset because the ichat makes your girl friend look fat.

3. You feel stupid for taking advertising so damn literally.

RELAX!!! I am an isight owner and I can still manage to sleep at night knowing that it stretches the video at full screen.

With that piece of advertising, if it still distorts it, then there is definitely something to complain about. That's flat out false advertising, but since I don't have an iSight (or any other FW camera), nor a wide screen display, I can't find out one way or the other.

The picture alone as evidence of false advertising is trivial.

Calling people retards and what not isn't tolerated in these here parts. Start a new thread and try to keep a little decorum about yourselves. You're supposed to be role models for the young 'uns.
