Anyone else out there having the problem where Entourage makes the processors on their Dual G5 go into overdrive and the fans sound like a plane taking off??

I've been looking for something about this porblem everywhere and can find nothing!

I can't imagine why... this has been discussed a lot! Entourage seems to eat up massive CPU when displaying HTML email messages.

If you are looking at a plain text message, no problem. If you are displaying an HTML message you'd think you were modeling the fluid dynamics of Jupiter's Great Red Spot based on Entourage's CPU usage.

Interestingly, this has been noted long before MS's last few patches to Entourage. I guess they don't care that they eat cycles like a Sumo wrestler at a Sizzler's lunch buffet.

I guess I just never noticed the CPU usage until the G5 because the fans get so loud. My Dual 450 doesn't sound any different with entourage, and it doesnt seem to affect performance either.

Sadly, the G5 seems to be hindered greatly by Entourage. I'd like to switch to Mail but unfortunately I use too many entourage features...

I'm not about to leave Entourage either. It really is feature rich in a way that Mail can't touch.

Even though the fans get louder when the CPU usage increases, all you have to do is close the mail window or switch to a plaintext message when Entourage is in the background. It's pretty easy to live with.
