Sometimes when I go to play a WMV file, I get the following message:

In order to play this file, you need to upgrade your media player to a version compatible with Windows Media Rights Manager V7. Select View Compatible Players below to see a list of compatible media players.

If your current media player does not have a Windows Media Rights Manager V7 compatible version, you should select a different player with the Windows Media Rights Manager V7 identifier.
I click the link and am taken to a bizarre page filled with a whole bunch of stuff that makes little to no sense to me.

Anyone know how to get around this problem?

Cheers.

Maybe from the new digital rights bundle in Windows Media Player for OS X 9. Plug in says:

Digital Rights Management Plugin

Provides support for Digital Rights Management — from file “DRM Plugin.bundle”.

I didn't see that anywhere on that page. I've downloaded 9, so any plug ins that would come in that package should have been installed.

Are you suggesting I go somewhere else to find this plugin?

Anyone else have any idea about this V7 thing?

This from installed plug-ins in Safari. Both plug-ins installed by WMP 9 (Digital Rights and Windows Media Player) are located in the Library>Internet Plug-Ins folder. Two files, no folder.

Original question:

In order to play this file, you need to upgrade your media player to a version compatible with Windows Media Rights Manager V7. Select View Compatible Players below to see a list of compatible media players.

If your current media player does not have a Windows Media Rights Manager V7 compatible version, you should select a different player with the Windows Media Rights Manager V7 identifier.

It now appears according to the newsgroup for WMP for Mac on the Microsoft site, that this V7 version is not included in the Mac WMP 9 but is in the Windows version. Really stupid.

Oh, interesting. Well thank you very much for your help!

If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd be most grateful!
