Anybody try QB 6 for Mac? We need to buy QB but I am hesitating buying it for Mac (instead of our PC) because previous versions had something like 1/2 of the features of the Windows version.
Any early adopters out there?

Doesn't look like it's going to be available in the channel for another week or so.

I helped to beta test it, and I love it. I've been using QB for the mac since it came out (version 3?) I've never felt it to be underpowered.
That being said, QB for the mac does lack a couple of features from the Windows version, namely the lack of multi-user support & the ability to use online banking. If you don't use those features, I don't think you'll miss anything jumping to the mac version.

The QB6 Mac version can read QB2003 data files directly (it still converts them to a Mac format). The BIG plus is that you have the option to save a copy of the Mac data file as a QuickBooks 2003 for Windows format to make it easy to exchange the file with your accountant.
Hey, maybe by QB7 for the Mac they'll have binary file compatability? Who knows! Right now, it still doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the Windows counterpart.
On the plus side, there are some neat enhancements that are only available on the Mac side!

How is the Aatrix payroll service that posts to QB 5 and 6?
We're currently using MYOB Account Edge which costs a lot less than Quickbooks for Mac ($199 for full upgrade, support and tax table upgrades for a year versus QB $199 upgrade + $169 for do-it-yourself payroll), but we find MYOB an odd company to deal with and our accountants can't use the exportable files. The plus side is that the MYOB payroll feature is fully integrated. We find the lack of customibility in the MYOB reports to be frustrating (and yes, we really know how to use the program well).
I've tried the Quickbooks 5 new user edition that came with my Powerbook and like it. Any feedback about Mac Quickbooks payroll from someone who's actually used it would be interesting. Thanks.

I think QB 6 is supposed to have payroll built in and not a separate app as in v5. Maybe one of the above testers can answer more accurately.

I'd also be interested if the payroll is integrated... The way it is in 5 is a pain in butt!

The QB6 Pro Payroll is still separate, but it integrates with QB6 seemlessly. I actually like it. The Payroll program does what it's suppose to do and does it well, then posts directly into QB6.
PS: I just received my Not For Resale version of QB6 Pro for the Mac from Intuit this week, so it should be shipping almost immediately.

Is there a place where one could get some on-line training for the Mac version of QB 6? My wife and I are using it for a few of our businesses and know we could probably be doing a better job with it. The local community college has some courses, but they are taught on Windows. Could we adequately learn QB for Mac by taking a Windows course?
