Google has a Swiss domain: www.google.ch (Switzerland, Swiss German)

However, the German release of Safari (Mac OS X 10.3.1) uses google.de (Germany) as search engine.

Where can I set the localisation in Safari? Nothing to see in Preferences.

Thanks!

No, nothing there. I guess we need to manually edit a file, but which one?

Safari always searches google.com (not de or ch).

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Then why are the results showing up in German?

Thanks for the link.

Google looks at the IP address you are connecting from and automagically pops you to what it thinks is the closest server, including language. (Lycos and others do this, too.)

I think it's possible to set Google's preferences to override the automatic localization.
