Now that WMP 9 is out there are a couple sites that I would like to check out. The problem is that these sites recognize that I am on an unsupported system and wont let me access their content.

I know browsers like Omniweb can pretend to be other browsers (like IE for windows), can Safari do this? I'd love to use omni, but I don't think the WMP 9 plugin works with it.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks

Use IE. I hate to recommend it but sometimes it's just the only thing that works

% defaults write com.apple.safari Includedebugmenu 1
all on one line in the Terminal. I don't think you should type the %. Or use Tinkertool. Now you will se a Debug menu. Choose Debug>User Agent>Something (IE:Mac or IE 6 Win are good choices, sometimes Netscape 6 works too)

Good suggestion thanks ... IE does not work either because it reports itself as the mac version.

You can download tinkerTool It will enable the debug menu so that you can fake a different browser. Or you can use Safari Enhancer. both will work. TinkerTool has more features

i f**kin hate having to do that "pretend to be another browser" sh*t. most of the time the sites work fine anyway. it's just that the f**kwitts who design them think you've got to be using windoze 98 and explorer 5 [or whatever software they had on their poxy 'tiny computers' PC when designing the site], because they havenae done any cross-browser or cross-platform testing.

and then, of sourse the fact that you're masquerading as IE for windoze just reinforces that whole way of doing things, as their server logs will show such an artificially high percentage of visitors apparently using IE for windoze, that developers think "why bother coding for anything else?"

i know that if you really want to see the site, sometimes you have to do it, but unless it's really vital i usually f**k off at that point. i don't see why i should give hits to such a badly designed mac-unfriendly site and in doing so artificially increase micro$oft's perceived share of the browser market.

and while i'm on the subject - WTF don't they let you access the site anyway? give me a warning saying it might not work on my browser if you must, but at least let me f**kin try! it's nearly as irritating as the flash sites that won't let you in coz they say you havenae got flash installed, when in fact you have.

better go now before i wear out the "" smiley!
