The Sonica Theater's drivers for panther are already up, so the revolution's can't be far behind.

Just checked and beta drives are posted (as of 2003-09-23) on M-Audio's site: http://www.m-audio.com/support/driversearch.php

-SRS Surround Issues under repair in 10.3(Panther)

•[Driver] Support for PowerMac G5 with system version 10.2.7.
•[Driver] Support for OS 10.2.8*
•[Driver] Support for System Version 10.3 (Panther).
•[Driver/Panel] Support for 4.0 and 5.0 Speaker Sets.

* Apple has pulled the 10.2.8 update off of their download page. The customers that installed this update and are experiencing problems with the Revolution 7.1, can still use this driver with 10.2.8.

I would not recommend installing the Sonica driver. Panther has built-in support that is better than M-Audio's driver.
After installing the Sonica drivers on my PowerBook I would get complete OS lockups. The OS would just hang, and nothing could be done. i had to erase my OS and reinstall it to get it fixed.
M-Auido could not help the issue. All they said was that they were sorry, and that they could not help.

On the new OS I did not install the Sonica drivers, I am just running with the built-in OS drivers and it works fine.

Well, I installed the Sonica Theater drivers on my rev a 12" AlBook without any problems under panther. They updated the drivers for 10.3 and it's working very well. No problems.

I can't speak for the Sonica - it's a different product with different drivers and I've never used it.

Besides, the Revolution 7.1 has reportedly always had better drivers from the sonica theater - the Rev is M-Audio's flagship consumer product (it's the PCI card version of the Sonica Theater), so it naturally gets more attention.

New drivers came out yesterday. Has anyone tried them yet?

xlr8yourmac.com has some comments from people who have installed them. Some are still having KPs. From the site:
M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Driver Update - I don't own any of their products but Ralph M. sent a note that M-Audio has released a driver update for the Revolution 7.1 PCI Audio card. Searching their Drivers page for "Revolution" OS X drivers with the "show Beta" option checked lists the update:

1.2.8 Build 196 - 2003-11-25 (4710 Kb)
Release Notes:
- 10.3.2 has not yet been tested with this release
-Fix to support OS 10.3.1 surround component.
-AC3 passthru is now fixed.
Please note, however, that we NO LONGER SUPPORT VLC as Apple has added direct AC3 support to dvdplayer in 10.3 (which is what we now support and is supported in this version)."
