Example: Intelligent playlist for

artist = Dav* Liebman

search results should be
- David Liebman
- Dave Liebman

What would the format for wildcard searches be? Thanks.

Well, its technically not a "wildcard" search .. but what I would do is the following:
Criteria 1: Artist : Starts With: Dav
Criteria 2: Artist: Ends With: Liebman

Should get you the results your want, eh ?

With two criterias, I managed to get the results, too:

criteria 1: artist = Dave Liebman
OR
criteria 2: artist = David Liebman

But I would like to include more searches in this playlist, for example

+ composer = Dav* Liebman
+ comments = Dav* Liebman

Instead of 3 criterias, there would be 6.

So, wildcards like $ or * are not possible, right?

It appears "no". I opened up my iTunesMusicLibrary.xml file to see if the criteria could be changed manually in there ... no go, it appears to be encrypted.

On the bright side, how often is this really going to come up ? When it does, just do the double criteria thing once on initial setup and it will work. You should also send feedback to apple and make this suggestion. Maybe they'll incorporate it into the next version.
