I'm running OSX 10.3.1 on a G5 and experienced a strange problem while running Norton anti-virus 8 and Mail.

As soon as Norton discovers a ( PC ) virus inside a mail, the autoprotect feature kicks in to delete it, and in the meanwhile he also deletes my intire INBOX!!!

Considering how poorly Norton products work on officially supported systems (which Panther is not), I'd say you are lucky that there wasn't even more damage.

The solution is to never use Norton products on the Mac.
