Is there any way to get Safari to handle public FTP itself, or must it always hand off to something else such as the Finder? Is it plausible for someone to come up with a plug-in for this?
In any case, it's not working right on my machine. When I enter an FTP URL (such as "ftp://icarus.com/pub/eda/verilog/v0.7", the one I'm working on right now) it misbehaves fairly badly. I *can*, on the other hand, enter this URL directly in the Finder and it'll connect without much fuss.
I opened up IE to look at the Protocol Helper preferences, and it won't allow me to select Finder as the FTP helper. At least what I assume is the Finder (/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder)?
Appreciate any help getting my system working normally, whatever that means....
edit: Should mention that I'm running 10.3.1, and no proxies. At this point I'd be happy if I could just get Safari to hand off to the Finder properly...
edit #2:I installed
More Internet and that allowed me to make the fix. FTP now opens in the Finder. Whew.
