I'm having weird font issues with Safari 1.1-- it started in 10.2 and has continued in 10.3. On certain websites (including MacNN), fonts are being displayed using a phoenetic character set of some kind. I also have Font Reserve 3.1.2 running; it's likely the cause but I haven't been able to resolve it. Any ideas on how to get the font to default to something readable?
(I tried to do a search for this topic but repeatedly got "Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /usr/local/www/macnn/vbull/search.php on line 400". )

I have been having this same issue for some time now as well. I am not running font reserve however. I have also had this problem with ichat.
It is a very annoying problem. Here is a sample of the problem while on the apple website
If someone could please help us figure this out I wouldn't have to use a different browser.

Try throwing your cache files out located in /Library/Caches/ and if it comes back also get rid of the /System/Library/Caches as well. Make sure you reboot afterwards.
I had this problem in Quark and other apps when using Adobe Garamond. It drove me nuts because I thought I had a corrupt font or something.
If that doesn't fix it try changing the default fonts that your browser uses in the Preference box to something similar (ie Times instead of Times New Roman).

Thanks, Lance. I think the latter part of your suggestion fixed the problem, knock on wood. Thanks!
