This app used to be available for 0S9 - does
anyone know of an app like it for OSX ?
All the thumb nails are double-clickable
Easy and fast way to view a series of QT files -

A japanese programmer made an app called
'AnoMovie' but he seems to have disappeared

Ugly choice, but still a big thank you.

heh, that one's mine
it doesn't quite do what you asked for, but maybe a few choice suggestions could bring it closer. I was thinking of adding a little picture in the lower left corner like iTunes has. it would have the custom icon selection, or failing that, the first brightly colored frame from the movie. You'd still have to click on a movie to see the image though . If I move that feature up in the priority list, would you even use it?

Well crap… partly explains why you give about half the definitive answers in Dig Vid & Audio (thread killer ). I never did get around to asking what you do, but I always hoped you would reply to those codec etc. questions I've been posting.
Still haven't looked the Hoot over. I stumbled across it last night, probably looking into fourCC code info. I don't have many short clips to put the app to use on, mostly feature lengths.
Might work as another alternate player for those stubborn AVIs though. I hope. I've got plenty of those.

don't count on it playing anything that QuickTime can't play. it just uses the standard NSMovieView. But there was a situation once where a guy had some forgettable problem with playing on his widescreen TV and my app was the only one that worked for some odd reason; still don't know why. Something about clicking or stuttering or something after a quicktime update, like 6.0.3. Anyways....
MetaHoot is primarily for content creators, not really as a jukebox type app. But when people have specific feature requests for playback stuff I do my best to accomodate. I put in some clever stuff at the start and then realized that even I never use it for playing my movies...
thread killer...yeah I've noticed that. heh. This is probably not that interesting to anyone who isn't me, but I don't do this stuff for a living. I'm a biologist, but I took a few programming classes in college (class of 02) and I read (and experiment) a lot with video stuff. And since the 3ivx folks gave me a forum and a blue name on their forums (for the MetaHoot forum), I won't deny that that little trinket keeps me more involved than I probably would be otherwise
